Experience

My CV lists the roles — this page explains what each one actually involved and what it taught me. It's the long version, for anyone who wants more context than a bullet list gives.

Localsearch — Website QA & Tech Support (June 2024 – Present)

At Localsearch I'm the last check before a business website goes live. That means working through each site against its brief — content, layout, links, forms, functionality — and flagging anything that would cause a customer to lose trust or hit a dead end.

Alongside QA, I handle customer support and technical troubleshooting, coordinate tasks across multiple projects running at once, and make CMS updates directly. It's a role that rewards precision and follow-through: a missed detail on my end becomes a live problem for someone else's business.

Business website work (client-direct)

Outside my day-to-day role, I've worked directly with small businesses on website updates and one-off technical delivery, including API-related workflows. See the Projects page for detailed case studies.

This work is different from QA — it starts earlier, with figuring out what a business actually needs rather than checking against an existing brief — but it draws on the same habits: clear communication, realistic expectations, and testing before calling something done.

Condong Sugar Mill — Laboratory Assistant (2023 – 2024)

Before web QA, I worked shifts in an industrial laboratory during crushing season, collecting and testing cane juice, syrup, and product samples for quality control, operating lab equipment, and logging results accurately.

It was fast-paced and physically different from office-based QA work, but the underlying skill was the same: careful, repeatable checking where mistakes are expensive, done to a schedule that doesn't wait for you to catch up.

Murwillumbah Golf Club — Bar Staff, Casual (2022 – 2023)

Casual bar work — RSA-compliant service, cash and POS handling, and staying organised during a busy shift. It's a good environment for learning to read people quickly and stay calm when several things need attention at once.

Heritage Lodge — Kitchen Hand & Cleaner (2021 – 2023)

Dishwashing and kitchen cleaning at an aged care facility, with some food preparation and service support. Hygiene and safety standards in aged care are non-negotiable, which built an early habit of following process properly rather than cutting corners.

KFC Murwillumbah — Crew Member (2017 – 2019)

My first job: food prep, cleanliness, and counter/drive-thru service during peak periods. Fast food is a decent crash course in teamwork under pressure and staying pleasant with customers when the queue is out the door.

What ties this together

These roles look different on paper — hospitality, industrial QC, digital QA — but each one rewarded the same things: doing the detailed work properly, staying reliable when things get busy, and communicating clearly with the people relying on me. That consistency is what I bring to a new team.
